Sam Patch made the two-and-a-half hour trip to Macedon in October where she will stay until next season. Staff will completely recondition the hull to prevent growth of algae, zebra mussels and other harmful organisms, along with other repairs. The interior floor will be patched and painted after nearly 15,000 passengers trod her deck in 2017. Other minor upgrades will be made to furnishings, interior and exterior paint, and a new canvas cover will be fabricated for the top. This work – especially grinding and repainting a steel hull – is arduous and painstaking. But it is done with diligence and love by a dedicated crew who strive to ensure The Sam will be ready for you in 2018 – and we hope with support of the Rochester community that she will be joined by a sister ship on the Genesee River downtown.
